Why It Matters

One in six trips runs into something unexpected.

A cancelled connection. A stomach bug on day two. A stolen bag in a train station. Most disruptions are small — but the ones that aren't can cost tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket. Travel insurance turns those moments from disasters into inconveniences.

What's Covered

Comprehensive protection, in plain English.

Every plan we recommend includes these core protections. Limits vary by tier — your advisor confirms exact amounts before you enroll.

Trip Cancellation & Interruption

Recover non-refundable costs when illness, injury, a family emergency, jury duty, or a covered work obligation forces you to cancel or cut short a trip. Reimbursement typically up to 100% of insured trip cost for cancellation and up to 150% for interruption (including additional return-transport costs).

Emergency Medical Care

Coverage for hospitalization, physician visits, prescriptions, and dental emergencies incurred while traveling. Most travelers select $100,000–$250,000 in primary medical coverage abroad, where domestic health plans often do not apply.

Medical Evacuation & Repatriation

Emergency air transport to the nearest suitable facility — or home — when medically necessary. A single overseas evacuation can exceed $100,000; standard plans we offer include $500,000–$1,000,000 in evacuation coverage.

Baggage Loss & Delay

Reimbursement for luggage that is lost, stolen, or damaged, plus essentials (clothing, toiletries) when bags are delayed more than 12–24 hours en route.

Travel & Flight Delays

Coverage for meals, lodging, and rebooking costs when weather, mechanical issues, or connections don't cooperate — typically after a 6-hour covered delay.

Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR)

Optional upgrade that lets you cancel for reasons not covered under standard trip cancellation and recover 50–75% of insured trip cost. Must be purchased within 14–21 days of your initial trip deposit.

Included in every plan we place

  • 24/7 worldwide emergency assistance hotline
  • Coordination of medical care and hospital payments
  • Emergency cash transfer and lost-document replacement
  • Concierge and translation services abroad
  • Direct billing to hospitals wherever available
  • Coverage for pre-booked flights, hotels, tours, and cruises

Baylan Travels is an independent travel agency. Insurance products are underwritten by licensed carriers; policy terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. Your advisor provides the full policy documents before enrollment.

How It Works

Four simple steps, handled with you.

  1. 1. Review your trip

Your advisor summarizes your itinerary — total insured cost, destinations, activities, travelers, and any pre-existing medical conditions to consider.

  2. 2. Match the right plan

We compare quotes from top-rated carriers (Allianz, Travel Guard, Travelex, Nationwide, Seven Corners) and recommend the plan that best fits your trip and budget.

  3. 3. Purchase & enroll

We handle the enrollment and send your full policy documents, ID card, and 24/7 assistance numbers. Coverage begins the moment your deposit is protected.

  4. 4. Travel — and if needed, claim

If something happens, call the assistance line first. We help gather documentation and follow the claim through with the carrier on your behalf.

Frequently Asked

Questions travelers ask us most.

When should I buy travel insurance?+

Within 14–21 days of your initial trip deposit. Buying in this window unlocks the most valuable time-sensitive benefits — the pre-existing condition waiver and the option to add Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR).

How much does travel insurance typically cost?+

Most comprehensive plans run 5–10% of your insured, non-refundable trip cost. Price depends on traveler age, trip length, destination, coverage limits, and any upgrades (CFAR, adventure sports, rental-car).

Does my credit card or health insurance already cover me?+

Credit-card travel protection is generally limited (often no medical coverage abroad, low delay caps, and secondary trip cancellation). Most U.S. domestic health plans provide little or no coverage outside the country, and Medicare does not cover care abroad. A dedicated travel plan fills these gaps.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?+

Yes, in most cases — provided the plan is purchased within the insurer's look-back window (typically 14–21 days of initial deposit) and you are medically able to travel on the purchase date. Your advisor confirms the exact terms before you enroll.

What isn't covered?+

Common exclusions include foreseeable events (a named storm already forecast at purchase), self-inflicted injuries, incidents while intoxicated, and travel to regions under active U.S. State Department advisories. Every policy is different — your advisor walks through the exclusions before you buy.

How do claims actually work?+

Contact the 24/7 assistance line first — most medical situations are coordinated in real time and billed directly to the carrier. For post-trip reimbursement (delays, cancellation), submit receipts and documentation through the carrier's online portal. We assist with paperwork and follow-up.
